Class Descriptions
Course: 10 Hour OSHA
 
Audience:
The 10 Hour OSHA class is appropriate for workers in the general industry.

Prerequisites:
Student must be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in. Valid photo ID required.

Course Description:
The 10 hour OSHA class appropriate for workers in the general industry. It provides training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. It also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. It is taught by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized instructor. Students receive a certificate and a card acknowledging they have completed the class. 

Methods of Instruction:
A combination of lectures, PowerPoint presentations, open discussions, and testing will be used throughout the course.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the learning event, the student will be able to recognize and identify safety and health hazards as outlined below.
  1. Discuss why is OSHA important to the workers.
  2. Discuss what rights workers have under OSHA.
  3. Discuss what responsibilities employers have under OSHA.
  4. Discuss OSHA standards and how inspections of those standards are conducted.
  5. Recognize where can workers go for help.
  6. Identify common health hazards found in work place.
  7. Identify common caught-in or -between hazards.
  8. Describe types of caught-in or –between, struck by, electrocution and fall hazards.
  9. Protect themselves from caught-in or –between, hazard struck by, electrocution and fall hazards.
  10. Identify what the responsibilities are for both employers and employees.
  11. Identify protective foot wear along with preventing injury to feet and legs.
  12. Identify protection for face and eyes and identifying what type of protective equipment should be utilized for each.
  13. Identify protection for hearing loss prevention, identifying which ear protection shall be needed and when it shall be needed.
  14. Identify protection for hands and body, what type of equipment and when to needed.
  15. Identify what Respiratory Protection is needed and how to properly use.  
  16. Identify and use GHS labelling for chemicals in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), Revision 3.
  17. Identify hazards associated with the use of ladders.
  18. Identify hazards associated with each topic.
  19. Identify proper use for each.
  20. Define role of Competent person.

Materials:
Pens, instruction booklets, test, videos, PowerPoint presentations, instructor evaluation sheet, attendance sign-in sheets. 

Successful Completion:
In order to receive a certificate/card for the course, students must:
Be able to clearly communicate with the instructor and complete all paperwork in the language the course is delivered.
Complete all required paperwork: registration, evaluation, attendance, etc.
Attend all required hours of the course. Any make up sessions must be completed within six months from the course start date.
Participate during class activities and reviews.
Complete tests with a passing grade of 70%.
Test time 30-40 minutes. Students can retake the test if receive score less than 70%.
No exceptions will be made. No partial credit awarded for any course.

Please be advised that certificates/cards will not be released until balance has been paid in full. Payments can be made with cash, check, money order, or debit/credit card.​

The 30 hour OSHA class appropriate for supervisors or workers in the construction industry. It provides more in-depth training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in the construction industry. It also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. It is taught by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized instructor. Students receive a certificate and a card acknowledging they have completed the class.
